about

"Whisper" is the fourth song off of John Black's debut solo EP, The Miles in Between. It was written and first demo'd in February 2017 and recorded between Black's home studio in Yonkers, NY and the SAE Institute in New York City in August 2018.

lyrics

Somewhere, buried deep within the confines we both face
sits a passion and a fire we both know that we embrace.
And though the timing works against us now,
the message is still clear,
and that still comforts me at night
even though you're nowhere near.

Well, I hope that when the day comes
where your worries settle down,
and the things that plague you every day
no longer come around,
you'll turn over in your bed
searching for a word to say...
I hope you whisper my name.

Amidst the opposition that the world seems to provide
lives a controversial dream that was born to come alive.
And though the lists of reasons we should stop
gets longer by the day,
I've never been the type of man
who follows lists anyway.

Well, I hope that when the day comes
where your worries settle down,
and the things that plague you every day
no longer come around,
you'll turn over in your bed
searching for a word to say...
I hope you whisper my name.
